Youth of Ōrākei
Inspire. Represent. Connect.

Who are we?
The Youth of Ōrākei is a youth council of 31 passionate young leaders, aged 15-21, dedicated to empowering and uplifting the lives of young people within the Ōrākei ward area. We are an independent, 100% volunteer led, and non-partisan entity that is proudly supported and funded by the Ōrākei Local Board.
What do we do?
Our youth council take a ‘for youth, by youth approach.’ We plan and organise a vast range of projects, aimed at addressing the challenges young people face within the community. From projects such as our annual Film Festival and Music Competition, to tree planting events and Student Leadership initiatives, our mahi is as diverse as our community.
Beyond our projects, we also play an active role in local decision-making by advising on and facilitating consultation on council plans that impact youth. This is crucial in ensuring the voices of young people are represented in shaping the future of Ōrākei and the wider Auckland region.
Our Strategic Goals
All of our mahi as a youth council is underpinned by our council's strategic goals, which act as the blueprint for every project we deliver.

INSPIRE
We aim to inspire youth within the Ōrākei community to grow and develop as leaders

REPRESENT
We aim to represent youth voices, talents, and identities to initiate positive change within the Ōrākei community

CONNECT
We aim to create and strengthen connections within the Ōrākei community
