2025 Projects
With over 500 in-person attendees, 2025 was our biggest year yet. From the continuation and refinement of flagship projects like our Film Festival and Student Leadership Conference to the launch of the fast-paced Race Around Ōrākei Domain and our creative Mural Project, we delivered 15 diverse projects that inspired, represented, and connected our community like never before.

Clothing Drive

Our Clothing Drive, in partnership with the Auckland City Mission, encouraged members of the Ōrākei community to think more consciously about their clothing waste and gave them an opportunity to donate items they no longer need. Overall, we managed to collect and donate over 600 clothing items!
Race Around Ōrākei Domain

Team 1
Our ‘Race around Ōrākei Domain’ was a fun and fast-paced event that turned the Ōrākei Domain into a giant scavenger hunt. Participants worked in teams to complete challenges that led them to appreciate the beauty and history of our Ōrākei community.



Local Elections Video Series

Our series of three educational and impartial Local Elections Videos made civic education more accessible and engaging for first-time voters.
Film Festival

With a total of 67 engagements, our flagship Film Festival was once again a huge success, representing the incredible creative talent of our young filmmakers' short films and music videos.


Tree Planting

In partnership with the Eastern Bays Songbird Project, our tree planting project entailed a day of planting and weeding in our local Kohimarama Forest, as well as learning about native flora and fauna.
Theatre Fiesta

Our Theatre Fiesta inspired and connected young people who were passionate about the performing arts, involving theatre games and engaging skit improvisation activities.


Photography Competition and Exhibition

Featuring over 30 submissions and prizes in partnership with Photogear Mt Eden, our Photography Competition and Exhibition aimed to showcase not only the talent of young photographers, but also the beauty of the local Ōrākei area.
'Sanity Over Stress' Online Posts

'Sanity over Stress' was a digital post series helping high school students survive the high-pressure exam period with their mental health intact.


QuizEx

Team 3
Returning for its third year, QuizEx was a unique cross between MathEx and a traditional pub quiz. We provided a fun, physical, and competitive environment where attendees could strengthen existing bonds and make new friends.
Careers Workshop

Our Careers Workshop included a talk from a current school careers advisor, as well as an interactive panel featuring current university students. Key topics included scholarship applications, accommodation advice, and general university tips.


Music Competition

Team 3
Attracting nearly 80 attendees, our Music Competition provided a stage for youth bands, soloists, and small groups to showcase their talents. Participants were judged by a panel of professional musicians and all received useful and constructive feedback.
Mental Health Awareness Week Project

For NZ Mental Health Awareness Week, we curated and executed a digital series of posts and reels to deliver daily content focused on stress management techniques and mental well-being advice.

Mural Project

Following an art competition centered on the theme of 'connection,' attendees united to paint a vibrant mural on the Crossfield Reserve changing rooms, with more than 50 engagements. Using an accessible paint-by-numbers system, attendees of all ages and abilities contributed to adding a splash of colour to the community
Student Leadership Conference

The third annual YOO Student Leadership Conference in partnership with iSpeak was a resounding success! With interactive workshops and activities, we empowered around 30 aspiring young leaders from local high schools with key leadership skills, including public speaking, communication, and problem-solving.


Online Life Skills Pamphlet

Our Life Skills Pamphlet is a digital resource to help the youth in our community feel more confident about adulthood. Covering key tips on budgeting, health & wellbeing, fun and affordable recipes, and more, it is your go-to guide to life after secondary school!
